NSW Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative – Low Carbon Product Manufacturing Grant
The NSW Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative – Low Carbon Product Manufacturing Grant is designed to expand and increase NSW manufacturing capacity of low carbon products and materials.
There are 2 streams of grants. The construction ready grants range from $2 million and $20 million per project on a matched funding basis. The product development grants from $50,000 and $900,000 per project on a matched funding basis.
Eligible applicants
Applicants can be based internationally, interstate or in NSW. To be eligible for funding, the lead applicant must:
- hold or be willing to obtain an ABN and be registered for GST
- be a company incorporated in Australia; a company limited by guarantee; an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust; an incorporated association or co-operative; an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation.
- hold or will attain all insurances required by law including $20 million public liability insurance and worker’s compensation, prior to entering into a funding agreement
- not be subject to any insolvency
Eligible projects
To be eligible for funding, for construction ready projects, the lead applicant must confirm that the proposed project:
- The project will deliver new or expanded industrial facilities in NSW that will manufacture eligible low carbon products and materials at commercial scale.
- the project will manufacture an eligible low carbon product that demonstrates lower lifetime carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions compared to equivalent conventional incumbent products.
- The project is expected to be fully delivered (operational) within 4 years of contract execution and no later than 30 June 2032
- be sustainable without continued government investment
- have a viable commercial strategy
To be eligible for funding, for product development projects, the lead applicant must confirm that the proposed project:
- The project will help reach a financial investment decision to build a commercial scale manufacturing facility for low carbon products in NSW. Projects must be focused on either: Front-end engineering design; Product carbon footprint assessment; Product compliance and certification study to scale manufacturing; Manufacturing facility development approval
- The product development project is expected to be fully completed in 18 months
To be eligible for funding, all projects would not occur in NSW at all or in the same timeframe without government support
Application Process
The application process for the construction ready grant consists of 2 stages. Stage 1 is an Expression of interest (EOI). Stage 2 is a detailed application which will be by invitation only. The construction ready EOI’s close 19 April 2024.
The product development it is a one stage application process which closes on 3 May 2024
