Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund Round 8
The Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund (VMRAF) is designed to support early-stage health and medical research and accelerate promising projects towards translation and real-world impact. Bridging the gap between discovery and application.
What funding is available?
The Program has two tiers of matched funding:
- Tier 1 – up to $100,000. For early-stage research projects with clear potential to progress toward translation.
- Tier 2 – up to $500,000. For more advanced projects focused on accelerating translation into clinical practice, health system adoption or commercial pathways.
Projects that demonstrate strong female leadership or gender balance within research teams may receive bonus assessment weighting.
Who can apply?
While the focus of the Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund is towards research organisations such as uni’s, medical research institutes, etc, these must have a Collaborative Partner who is an end user that can support the translation and/or commercialisation of research.
This means that businesses undertaking medical research and commercialisation in Victoria may be well placed to participate. By partnering with an eligible research organisation and accessing funding to support parts of the research and commercialisation journey.
