February 2021 Jobs Data
The February 2021 Jobs Data released yesterday was a great result for women with employment increasing by 74,000 in February, accounting for 84 per cent of the 89,000 new jobs.
This brings the number of employed people to just over 13 million for the first time since February 2020.
This means that 876,000 of the 878,000 jobs lost between February and May 2020 have now been recovered. But as the number of people in the labour force has increased, unemployment remains up on February 2020 by nearly 110,000 people. The unemployment rate of 5.8 per cent for February dropped below 6 percent for the first time since March 2020
All states had increases in employment with NSW the strongest recovery.
