The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) is a federal government backed specialist investor that provides financing to support the development and commercialization of renewable energy and low-emission technologies.
The CEFC’s goal is to increase the flow of finance into the clean energy sector and accelerate Australia’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
They invest in a wide range of clean energy projects such as solar, wind, bioenergy, energy efficiency, and low-emission transport.
The CEFC also provides advice and support to clean energy businesses and investors to help them navigate the clean energy market.
CEFC works with commercial partners, co-financiers and other stakeholders to structure and arrange debt and equity investments in clean energy projects.

Finance for Small / medium businesses – Asset Finance
CEFC does generally deal with small / medium business. But they have set up asset finance programs with major banks, specialised lenders and funds.

Innovation Fund
One such partnership is with Virescent Ventures who manages the Innovation Fund on behalf of the CEFC. The Innovation Fund typically invests in projects that are at the later stages of development, and may provide support in the form of debt or equity financing. These tend to be larger projects and not really for small / medium businesses.

Clean Energy Seed Fund
This is partnership with Artesian which invests in scalable, high growth potential start-ups, encouraging innovation and creating opportunities in the development of clean technology.
The Fund invests from seed to growth stage in clean energy startups from Australia, developing software, hardware or new business models applicable to the clean energy market.
