NSW JobSaver Extension – large tourism, hospitality and recreation businesses

JobSaver Extension
JobSaver in NSW has been extended to large tourism, hospitality or recreation businesses in NSW with an annual turnover over between $250 million and $1 billion.
This means that if your large tourism, hospitality or recreation businesses in NSW has been impacted by the recent COVID-19 restrictions, you may be eligible for the 2021 COVID-19 JobSaver payment large tourism, hospitality and recreation businesses extension.
Eligible large tourism, hospitality or recreation businesses in NSW will receive the equivalent to 40% of Weekly Payroll for work performed in New South Wales up to a maximum of:
- $300,000 for eligible businesses with an aggregated annual turnover more than $250 million and up to $500 million
- $500,000 for eligible businesses with an aggregated annual turnover more than $500 million and up to $1 billion.
The weekly payment cap will be applied at a group level and only one entity will apply on behalf of a group.
Fortnightly payments will be backdated to the start of the month in which your first experienced the required decline in turnover on or after the commencement of JobSaver on 18 July 2021. It is not automatically backdated to 18 July like the core JobSaver program.
Eligibility Rules for the NSW JobSaver Extension
In order to be eligible for NSW JobSaver Extension – large tourism, hospitality and recreation businesses Extension, your business or not for profit organisation must:
- be a tourism, hospitality or recreation business (see below);
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be operating in NSW as at 1 June 2021;
- had an aggregated annual revenue between $250 million and $1 Billion(inclusive) for the year ended 30 June 2020;
- have experienced a decline in turnover due to the Public Health Orders over a minimum one month period from 26 June 2021, compared to the same period in 2019 or another agreed period of:
- 50% for businesses with annual turnover between $250 million and $500 million
- 70% for businesses with annual turnover between $500 million and $1 billion.
- If your business revenue is down year on year due to factors other than the recent Public Health Orders, you may not be eligible for this Covid-19 Business Grant;
- maintain your employee headcount from the day immediately prior to the month you first experienced the required decline in turnover while you continue to receive JobSaver payments. Assuming this is consistent with the core JobSaver program, employers will remain eligible if employees voluntarily resign.
Note:
- Employees who are stood down or on reduced hours can receive the Commonwealth COVID-19 Disaster Payment.
- Employee Headcount includes NSW staff who are permanent (full time or part time), or casual staff that have been employed by the business for more than 12 months.

What is Weekly Payroll?
Given the size of the eligible businesses, it is likely that you are lodging monthly Instalment Activity Statements (IAS). You will need to work out your weekly NSW payroll in conjunction with your IAS and Single Touch Payroll reports (to prove the employee is NSW based).
