NSW Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative – Clean Technology Innovation Grant
The NSW Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative Clean Technology Innovation Grant is designed to accelerate the research, development and commercialisation of emerging clean technologies.
There are 2 streams of grants. The commercial readiness grants range from $250,000 and $2.5 million per project on a matched funding basis. The project development grants up to $250,000 per project on a matched funding basis.
Eligible applicants
Applicants can be based internationally, interstate or in NSW. To be eligible for funding, the lead applicant must:
- hold or be willing to obtain an ABN and be registered for GST
- be a company incorporated in Australia; a company limited by guarantee; an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust; an incorporated association or co-operative; an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation.
- be the legal and beneficial owner of, or has all necessary rights to use, any intellectual property necessary to carry out the project
- hold or will attain all insurances required by law including $20 million public liability insurance and worker’s compensation, prior to entering into a funding agreement
- not be subject to any insolvency
Eligible projects
To be eligible for funding, for commercial readiness ready projects, the lead applicant must confirm that the proposed project:
- that the proposed activities will, or has the potential to, advance or progress the clean technology product or solution toward commercialisation
- have a technological readiness level (TRL) of between 6 – 9
- have a commercial readiness index (CRI) of less than 4
- The project is expected to be fully delivered (operational) within 3 years
To be eligible for funding, for project development projects, the lead applicant must confirm that the proposed project:
- will, or has the potential to, advance or progress the clean technology product or solution. Projects should be focused on either: Front-end engineering design; Product carbon footprint assessment; Product compliance and certification study to scale manufacturing; Manufacturing facility development approval
- have a technological readiness level (TRL) of between 5 – 9
- have a commercial readiness index (CRI) of less than 4
- The product development project is expected to be fully completed in 12 months
Application Process
The application process for the commercial readiness grant consists of 2 stages. Stage 1 is an Expression of interest (EOI). Stage 2 is a detailed application which will be by invitation only. The construction ready EOI’s close 5 April 2024.
The project development it is a one stage application process which closes on 3 May 2024
