NSW taxi reforms
Do you own a NSW taxi licence? Right now, the NSW government is in the process of introducing reforms to the NSW Taxi industry.
As part of these reforms, there will now be an annual licence to operate a taxi. And as a result, taxi licences will not be able to be bought or sold anymore.
So that licence that an owner may have mortgaged their house and spent upwards of $400,000 to buy, are soon to become worthless.
Now the NSW government are getting ready to launch a financial assistance scheme help compensate owners of taxi licences for these changes.
Between now and 1 October the NSW government is seeking feedback from the industry on how this compensation package will look. They are doing this by way of an online survey.
If you are a owner of a NSW taxi licence, it is in your interests to complete this survey and provide feedback.
