Politicians – You need to understand the impact of YOUR decisions

The other, I went to my barber in Erskine street, just 100 metres behind Wynyard Station in the Sydney CBD. As I was sitting there getting my haircut, I could see 4 for lease signs on shop fronts that had closed since I was there in December.

And next door, the take away shop that has been there for over 20 years had also closed down. 5 businesses within 25 metres – all within 100 metres of one of the biggest public transport hubs in Sydney with thousands of trains and buses stopping daily. And the barber shop itself was barely hanging on.

They are not closing down because they were poor business people. They are shut because they lost foot traffic because of decisions politicians made.

Since 22 May 2020, there have been just 5 deaths attributed to Covid in NSW. At the same time there have been over 200 road deaths in NSW and over 30,000 other deaths.

Politicians – You need to understand the impact of YOUR decisions on the lives and livelihood of the people you represent. It is time to let people decide their own level of risk and remove all restrictions on how businesses operate.
