Powering the Regions Fund Consultation Paper released
The $1.9 billion Powering the Regions Fund was announced as part of the Federal Govt’s October 2022 budget.
The aim of the Powering the Regions Fund is to is to support regional Australia’s contribution to emissions reduction goals. Its four key priorities are to:
- support existing industries to decarbonise;
- develop new clean energy industries;
- support workforce development so that the skills necessary to support decarbonisation and new clean energy industries are available in the regions; and,
- enable the continued government purchase of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs).
As part of the development of the Powering the Regions Fund, the government has now released a consultation paper seeking more feedback before the Fund is finalised. In particular there are 22 questions they are seeking responses to (note feedback closes 3 February 2023)
