Restart Wage Subsidy – up to $10,000 for employees 50 years of age and over

Did you know that under the Restart Wage Subsidy, you could get up to $10,000 for employing someone 50 and over as long as:

They can be full time, part time or casual, but must be ongoing work for an average of 20 hours per week over the period of the wage subsidy agreement;
They don’t displace an existing employee;
They can be commission based, a subcontractor or an immediate family member.

For your business to be eligible for the Restart Wage Subsidy you:

Must have a valid Australian Business Number
Can’t have previously received a wage subsidy for the same employee
Is not an Australian, state or territory government agency.

For a your prospective employee to be eligible, they needs to be 50 years old or over and registered with a JobActive provider, Disability Employment Services , or The Community Development Programme.

And typically to be registered here the person needs to be on some form of support payment from the government such as JobSeeker. If they are not on this support payment (because, for example their partner earns too much money), they may not be eligible to for the Restart Wage Subsidy.

And in most cases, it is the JobActive provider who facilitates and pays the Restart Wage subsidy.

They can help you find and employ eligible people and manage the payment of the subsidy for you.
