Vic Small Business Specialist Advice Pathways Program
Under the Vic Small Business Specialist Advice Pathways Program, eligible small businesses can receive a $2,000 grant to cover the costs of engaging a qualified service provider that can help with financial and legal advice.
Note apparently at least 2,700 applications for this grant were lodged in just 2 days so the grant is now on a waiting list.
Who is eligible for a grant?
The Vic Small Business Specialist Advice Pathways Program is for small businesses employing 1 to 19 (full-time equivalent) staff who are established and have been in operation for more than two years. The business must be a legally structured business registered in Victoria with an active ABN operational 1 July 2020; and be registered with WorkSafe Victoria.
What can the eligible projects can the grant be used for?
The Vic Small Business Specialist Advice Pathways Program funds must be used to engage with a qualified service provider to assist your business with financial and legal advice or services, including:
- Advice and analysis regarding the management of cash flow, preparation or cash flow budgets and projections,
- Profitability analysis and formulation of financial management and/or operational business strategies,
- Strategic analysis to revise business planning and/or governance arrangements,
- Advice regarding the management of debts and liabilities, or
- Advice and/or representation regarding commercial agreement contract terms (i.e. commercial leases or commercial supply contracts).
Who are qualified Service providers?
A qualified service provider is either:
- A qualified accountant who is a declared member of one of the following professional bodies (CPA Australia Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or Institute of Public Accountants)
- A registered BAS Agent who is a declared member of one of the following associations (the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, the Australian Bookkeepers Association, Association of Accounting Technicians (Australia) Limited)
- A lawyer registered with the Victorian Legal Services Board.
The Vic Small Business Specialist Advice Pathways Program Grant itself
Grant funding of $2,000 (ex GST) is available for eligible projects commenced once approval is granted and the project is finished by 31 January 2023. The minimum spend must be at least $2,000 and for a minimum of 8 hours work.
Approved applicants will get $1,000 up front and the other $1,000 balance once the work is done. Note the business is responsible for any costs above $2,000.
How to Apply
Grants will be assessed on a first come, first served basis from 29 August till Friday 30 September 2022, or when funds are exhausted if before 30 September.
Note: at the time of applying, you must nominate your qualified service provider.
